For as long as I can remember, Friday afternoon in this town has pointed in one direction. East. Merritt, traffic, the same weekend, the same faces. Soho House is about to give us a reason to turn the car the other way.
Before I go any further: trust me when I say the grounds are jaw dropping. Last week members and families were invited up to see a first-look at what is coming before a single shovel goes in the ground, and while the property is still just open fields, old bones, and drawings on a board, construction is about to begin and upon visiting you will immediately see the vision.
Soho Farmhouse Hudson Valley is going up on 250 acres in Rhinebeck, inside the historic Grasmere estate. A 19th-century manor house, a former working farm, the original outbuildings being restored instead of bulldozed. It is on their official openings list, so this is not a rumor I am passing along. Doors in 2027.
If you have ever spent a weekend at the Farmhouse in Oxfordshire, or the Ibiza version, you already know what is coming. Forty-plus bedrooms and cabins scattered across the grounds. The main restaurant and bar tucked into a converted barn. A kitchen leaning all the way into Hudson Valley farm-to-table and the growers who actually supply it. A full Soho Health Club with a gym, a studio, treatment and recovery rooms, a spa. A pool. Miles of trails through field and woodland.
Here is the part that matters for us. Rhinebeck is about two hours by car, or you take the train to Rhinecliff and let someone else do the driving. Very doable on a Friday. And if you hold an Every House membership, access to the House is included, which changes the math on what that membership is actually worth. Bedrooms book through Soho House members and Soho Friends, same model as always. Interest is open now.
