If you’ve been on instagram lately, you’ve probably noticed one of the latest trends of contouring. Contouring is like those snapchat filters but in real life, and it something seen on every beauty hashtag. Contouring isn’t something that’s new, it’s been around forever. Thanks to self-proclaimed beauty gurus like the Kardashians who never leave the house with a full face of contour, this technique is making its way into every woman’s home. Despite the time it actually takes to contour, this makeup trick, is something that everyone loves to look at. It’s not that complicated to learn how to contour with the right tips and tricks, but women love to admire the work of others who contour. Contouring is like an app, it slims down your face, leaving you with a face that looks like it was just edited on one of the many beauty apps.
Contouring comes hand in hand with this idea of highlighting. It shapes your face and defines your cheekbones, much like a highlight would do. In it’s most simple form this is how you can contour in a quick minute: draw a line of bronzer from the sideburns of your hair to the end of your chin, draw a line where your cheekbone is and repeat on the other side. Blend the bronzer into your skin. Next grab a blush and apply along the cheekbone to add that hint of rosiness to your skin. Lastly, blend a highlight under your cheekbone and above your jawline to add a hint of dimension to your look and a shimmer that will last the whole night. Once all blended, you will have a more defined cheekbone and jawline, which is the goal of contouring. Contouring can be pretty simple once you get the hang of it and is definitely something to try! It doesn’t necessarily have to be an everyday thing though, because in the end our flaws are great and don’t have to be covered up. Take a look at some guides for contouring!
