Happy Christmas in July, GGs! The summer sun still beats down on the docks in the harbor, but our minds are on the holiday season; white snow falling, drifting, and sparkling in the glow of the lights that adorn 175 trees on Greenwich Avenue. It’s true- the Christmas lights will return to Greenwich just “in time for Thanksgiving”, to bring will cheer to Christmas this year! The Light Up Greenwich organization has teamed up with Greenwich Green and Clean, and with help from the community and local philanthropy, has committed to the $32,000 dollar investment in the lights, which “are guaranteed for three years, but should last up to 20 years”, according to Linda Sigler of Light Up Greenwich. Not only will these lights lend a festive holiday spirit to our snowglobe streets, but their assemblage is an effort that is bringing the community together through cooperation and generosity.
