Upon having to renew my car registration lately I could not help but notice the adorable restaurant next door to the DMV in Norwalk. While it may seem like a stretch to say that this adorable gem caught my eye – after all, who wants to hang out anywhere near the DMV – I can honestly say that its outer appearance was so inviting that I actually had to make a pit stop…and I sure am glad that I did.
For starters the parking is more than ideal and convenient. But what made the experience of stopping into Oak + Almond so amazing was because of what I walked into. Oak + Almond has an ambiance of rustic chic decor with an intimate vibe given the seperate spaces depending on the purpose of your visit. You are greeted with a spectacular view of their wood burning oven and stove and you have the option to either go left into their bar room or right to their multi faceted dining area. With options of farm tables to booths and even outdoor seating when weather permits (with adorable lights might I add) the options for your experenece at O+A are infinite. Hand-rubbed walnut tables and industrial fixtures are just a couple of the details that make O+A so lovely. They even have an 18 foot table, crafted from local 100 year old oak floorboards as an option to seat bigger parties of 10-15. The seperate areas of the dining area offer a variety of choices for a modern yet warm dining experience with a level of privacy to match your preference.
And above all, the quality of the food at O+A is beyond your imagination. Sourcing from the best artisan ingredients around, O+A approaches their preparation of each dish with a simplistic method that allows you to truly savor each flavor. A full cocktail menu and wine program that highlights biodynamic and organic selections only further adds to the obsession I now have with it. O+A has truly perfected the art of ambiance, food quality and drink companionship – next time you are at the DMV or if you are simply looking for a fabulous restaurant do yourself a favor and go to O+A – you will be very happy that you did.
