When I first tried on my new (and first) near floor length MaxMara cashgora navy coat I felt like I was channeling the Breakfast At Tiffany’s cast. Fully equipped with a black fur collar and a slit that allows me to twirl in a circle and the coat actually extends outward I was childlike with my excitement yet hesitant with the look. Wait, was I wearing mild shoulder pads even!? Perplexed I was silently staring in the mirror as my sister immediately informed me that “duster” coats are the “it” coat of the season. Reassured, a sense of relief and disappointment came over me: I was equally calmed with not being the eccentric long coat wearing GG that I secretly wanted to be, but mildly disappointed that I wouldn’t be, makes sense right? But as I rocked my duster this afternoon I fully embraced this 1980’s vibe with confidence as I strutted the streets of the avenue. It felt good to wear a different look…and to actually be warm while looking amazing. Weather you’re on a budget or can afford to splurge invest in the latest extension of boyfriend style with a chic spin on the masculine aesthetic. Best part about the duster? Throw it on over any ensemble for an instant elegant look.
