A newly filed Town of Greenwich application lists Magnolia Bakery at 189 Greenwich Avenue — the former Something Natural building, conveniently located behind Saks and surrounded by plentiful parking — where the iconic New York bakery is seeking approval for three signs, including an awning sign. I already had bakery envy over @magnoliabakery's upcoming arrival in Darien, which only eased a little once I heard @kneads_bakery is bringing a 2,000 sq. ft. shop nearby. But a Magnolia Bakery on Greenwich Avenue itself? That's the one that has me giddy.

For now, this is a sign application, not an official opening announcement.

Best known for its cupcakes, famous banana pudding, and its Sex and the City moment, Magnolia Bakery started in New York's West Village in 1996 and has since expanded well beyond NYC.

For now, this is a sign application, not an official opening announcement — the filing confirms Magnolia Bakery's name is attached to 189 Greenwich Avenue, but the company hasn't made any public statement about a Greenwich location or a timeline. So consider this a strong signal, not a confirmed opening — stay tuned.

GG will update as soon as we know more.
