Stamford, Conn. – (October 13, 2015) – The much anticipated 4th Annual Stamford Hospital Health Wellness & Sports Expo 2015 will return to Chelsea Piers Connecticut, the premier sports and fitness complex, at 1 Blachley Road in Stamford, on Saturday, October 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Sunday, October 18 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free. The public is asked to bring nonperishable food to help stock The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County for the upcoming holidays and enter a raffle to win healthy prizes. Governor Dannel Malloy of Connecticut and Mayor David Martin of Stamford have issued proclamations declaring October 17 and 18 as Stamford Hospital Health Wellness & Sports Weekend.
Everyone visiting Expo 2015 will receive a Passport For Life, sponsored by HealthyCT, which enables them to record their health screening results and collect stamps from visiting the exhibits. Those with 40 stamps will receive a complimentary day pass to Chelsea Piers Connecticut. Expo 2015 will feature complimentary health screenings for adults by Stamford Hospital, flu shots provided by CVS Pharmacy, children’s activities, athlete and author appearances plus the latest information, products, services and demos from over 90 exhibitors, healthy holiday gift shopping opportunities and much more.
New Attractions: Shark Tank Health Zone, Microsoft F.I.T. Zone, Dance With Me Dance Zone
The Shark Tank Health Zone, a special new attraction, will feature health, wellness and sports businesses successfully launched on ABC’s hit show “Shark Tank.” These include dance fitness sensation Billy Blanks Jr., who will be at the Expo each day and will also conduct a complimentary Dance It Out class for the first 75 people (adults and children 7 and older) on Saturday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 1 p.m. To pre-register for one of the classes, call TMK Sports & Entertainment at 203-531-3047. Other Shark Tank exhibitors include Nuts ‘N More, the popular high protein spread, and First Defense Nasal Screens, the first non-inserted, hypo-allergenic, self-adhering nasal filter, and more. Visitors can also explore the Microsoft F.I.T. Zone (Fitness in Technology) and try out new high tech fitness products and participate in Xbox Fitness, Kinect Sports Rivals, Zumba Fitness and more. The Dance Zone, hosted by Dance With Me Studios, will feature complimentary classes and dance activities throughout the weekend plus the chance to win a Meet and Greet with Tony, Maks or Val from ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.”
Stamford Hospital Complimentary Health Screenings
Stamford Hospital will provide complimentary health screenings, such as cholesterol and glucose, cardiac and stroke risk assessments, blood pressure, body fat analysis, and pulmonary function and hand hygiene tests. There will also be information on a variety of medical conditions and treatments, as well as representatives from Paint the Town Pink to promote breast cancer awareness.

Special Guests, Demos and More
Special guests will include Gillian Neff of News 12 Connecticut, Cora Ragaini, RDN of Grade A ShopRite, who will offer healthy cooking and food demos, and health and life coach Shannon Malkin Daniels, author of “Water Yourself, A Practical Guide to Weed Out the Bad, Get More Good and Live Your Dreams.”EBMAS CT Kung Fu will showcase martial arts, ShopRite’s LiveRight Zone will feature organic products, nutrition information, recipes and sampling and there will be many more interactive exhibits and demos.
Healthy Restaurant Samplings
Area restaurants will be on board at the Shark Tank Health Zone to showcase healthy food and offer samplings. Participating restaurants include Navaratna, Cosi of Greenwich and Stamford, Gaucho Grill, Myrna’s Kitchen, EatNaturall, Teff Restaurant and Izzi B’s Allergen-Free Cupcakes.
Run Walk for Health & Hunger, Raffles and Silent Auction to Benefit The Food Bank
The Expo kicks off with the 2nd Annual Run Walk for Health & Hunger, a 5K from Chelsea Piers through Cove Island Park, on Saturday morning to benefit The Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County. Register at www.hws-expos.com. There will also be hourly raffles for healthy prizes, including a one night stay for two with dinner and spa services at the Castle Hotel & Spa in Tarrytown, NY. Those bringing nonperishable food will receive a free raffle ticket or raffle tickets can be purchased for $5. The raffle and a silent auction will benefit The Food Bank.
