If you’ve ever crawled through that infamous East Putnam funnel heading toward the top of Greenwich Avenue, chances are a certain window has made you tap the brakes in the best possible way. Bold color, quirky personality, a flash of New-York-cool — yes, that window.
Welcome to Greenwich Art + Design, the newest creative gem in town and easily one of the most exciting additions to our local landscape.
Opened just a few months ago by the wildly talented artist Suzanne Bellehumeur, this space is so much more than a shop. Suzanne is a master muralist with over 35 years of experience, and her gift for transforming rooms into immersive, living works of art is on full display the moment you step inside. Her vibrant wall finishes wrap the space in color and character, turning the entire shop into one giant, walk-through canvas.
Upstairs you’ll find a curated mix of everything delightful and unexpected: eclectic tabletop pieces, sculptural decor, pillows, paintings, jewelry, and those “wait, where did you find this?!” treasures that instantly add personality to a home.
And then — because every great Greenwich spot needs a secret — there’s the downstairs gallery.
Hidden, spacious, creative, and carrying that very cool “if you know, you know” vibe, it’s a haven for anyone craving a hit of NYC energy right here at home.
Greenwich Art + Design brings together fine art, interiors, and elevated everyday living in a way that feels personal, intentional, and totally fresh. Whether you’re an art collector, an interior designer, or someone who just loves beautiful, meaningful pieces, this space was built for lingering, exploring, and falling in love with something unexpected.

BACKBEAT — The Lost Photography of Michael Friedman
Just when you think this place couldn’t get any cooler, enter an exhibit that feels like stepping straight into the heartbeat of rock history.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Michael Friedman lived in the inner orbit of rock-and-roll royalty — first as a young publicist, then as a manager and producer. Armed with his trusty Pentax, charm, and rare behind-the-scenes access, he captured the candid, unguarded moments of icons before they became… well, icons.
Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Kris Kristofferson, The Band, Todd Rundgren, Paul Butterfield and more.
Nearly all of his photos — taken between 1969 and 1973 — were never printed, never shared, and never even seen until they were discovered decades later by his wife, Donna, tucked away in the attic of their Connecticut home. Thought lost forever… until now.
These images went on to anchor a year-long exhibition at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and inspired Michael and Donna’s book, EXPOSED: The Lost Negatives and Untold Stories of Michael Friedman.
Each photograph in this collection is paired with Michael’s own stories: the friendships, the laughter, the chaos, the magic. It’s a rare, intimate look at rock legends during the moment just before they became legends — the heartbeat behind the music, the true “backbeat” of the era.
