I’m often asked to weigh in on the debate of private versus public profiles on social media. Our GG readers know where I stand…public, baby! But this has been a constant debate within our GG team, with our Managing Editor and Head of Travel Features, standing firm on her right to stay private. Well, ladies and gents, this year, we have turned her and a number of our readers to go “public.” On our retreat to The Ritz-Carlton Westchester earlier this month, we took the most part of an afternoon to debate the pros and cons of public vs. private social media. Annie, our Managing Editor and Head of Travel Features, stood firm on her right to private social media while we bantered back and forth on the reasons why she had to go public. You have built a wealth of information, a treasure trove of knowledge, and you only share it with 12 people (most of whom are your family)? I don’t think so. She has her finger on the pulse of jet setting, from where to go for a romantic getaway to how to survive a family vacation and our readers thoroughly enjoy her pieces. For 2015, we decided to take it one step further…now Annie is on Insta…and public! As we tell our readers, Instagram is not a channel to use in lieu of group texting – it is a channel to show how fabulous you are, let that flag fly, people! Go public or go home. #GGGoesPublic
