GREENWICH, CONN., Aug 3, 2015 – When the opportunity to partner with Méli-Mélo presented itself to flourishing luxury lifestyle entrepreneur Laura McKittrick (a.k.a. The Greenwich Girl), she said YES immediately. “I’ve been a regular Méli-Mélo customer for as long as I can remember,” said McKittrick, a Greenwich native who is building her digital magazine and brand, The Greenwich Girl (https://thegreenwichgirl.com/), and was signed to a book deal this summer. “The [Méli-Mélo] juice bar is truly a town gem and time saver” she stated “before my day gets going full speed I pop by Méli-Mélo to pick up a freshly made smoothie -curbside- to get me on the up and up for a day full of meetings and to get the creativity juices flowing! ”
Another juice bar regular is restaurant owner Marc Penvenne, who established Méli-Mélo (www.melimelogreenwich.com) with his wife in 1993 and reopened Bistro Versailles (www.versaillesgreenwich.com) in 2014. Penvenne is normally running from one business to the other and maintains health and energy by juicing. “We make everything here fresh, it’s the best on Greenwich Avenue” Penvenne said, he continued “in addition to our 1, 2 or 3 Day Cleanse we have wheatgrass and turmeric shots, and drinks that we call ‘healing helpers’ and ‘super smoothies’.”
Since the juice bar division launched a new holistic juice bar menu with the help of natural health author Kevin W. Reese in 2013, Penvenne has kept an eye on growing competition and regularly looks for new ways to set his business apart. The busy restaurateur said that the idea to collaborate happened organically. “We recently created ‘The Greenwich Girl’ drink with Laura’s favorite fruit raspberries along with ingredients we know help jump-start the body. We used mango, freshly squeezed orange juice, kale, ginger root, coconut water and freshly squeezed lemon juice.”
Nutrition professionals like Reese suggest flushing toxins in the morning as one of the best ways to start the day. Reese is a public speaker that focuses on detox and says that morning meals high in fruit will give busy professionals a head start. He also recommends incorporating options like delicious fresh fruit smoothies into the diet because it can help to prevent chronic illness. Another tip the health professional recommends is drinking 1 liter of water upon waking.
