Experience the power of 1 vs. 691 horsepower for yourselves!
Gather with the GG as we watch one of Greenwich Polo Club’s finest ponies races against the Tesla Model S P85D, kicking off the polo season with power and prestige on this sunday, June 7th.
To get the crowd charged up for the adrenaline rush of high-goal polo, Tesla is partnering with Greenwich Polo Club for a special event on June 7th in which both parties will be highlighting horsepower in its finest forms. Starting at 3 p.m., right before White Birch faces off against Airstream in the opening match of the 34th season of Greenwich Polo Club, spectators will be treated to a race between the Tesla Model S P85D and a professional polo player riding one of White Birch’s fastest polo ponies.
The award winning Tesla Model S, now with Autopilot features, is an evolution in automobile engineering. The 100% electric motor masterpiece will propel you from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 3.1 seconds without hesitation and without a drop of gasoline, which is huge for environmental conservation. With the highest safety rating in America and up to 270 miles in range on a full charge, the Tesla Model S completely redefines the industry of performance driving.
Joaquin Panelo, a 21-year-old 4-goaler from Argentina who will be playing this season for White Birch, will be riding Picolina, a champion mare bred by Los Machitos who is now part of the winning string for the 20-goal White Birch team.
Both car/driver, and horse/rider will race 200 feet down the polo field, navigate a U-turn, and accelerate back another 200 feet to finish the race. While it would seem that the Tesla Model S P85D has the advantage with dual motors, 691 horsepower punch, and acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds — don’t count out Picolina, a professional polo horse trained for speed and agility. She can gallop up to 35 mph, so expect her to make up some speed against the machine as this equine athlete navigates with a much tighter turning radius than any automobile.
All in all, the launch of Greenwich Polo Club season is sure to be a spectator’s event, so come one AND come all as we gather to see if 600+ in horsepower can really outrace a thoroughbred winner from the White Burch team.
