A lil Friday tidbit for my GGs: I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but as the years pass, this weird thing is going on with my neck, specifically on the lower half, where two cords have appeared out of nowhere every time I talk, laugh, or look down—especially prominent in photos. These are called platysmal bands, and as we get older and/or lose weight, they become more obvious and, thus, surprise, surprise, are yet another dead giveaway of age! Technical description below.
Well, I tried a fix with Botox, and it worked marvelously!
Well, I tried a fix with Botox, and it worked marvelously! Fair warning: If you overdo the Botox here, yes, it makes the bands even more invisible; however, it can make swallowing a little more difficult. If you’re looking to lose weight, go overboard! JKJK.
So, the fix is getting Botox in the bands of your neck! This is not medical advice. I’m just sharing something that I did. So, if this is a problem that you, too, struggle with, ask your local provider about Botox in your platysmal bands! → Swipe to see the before-and-after pics of what I mean.
To get technical: Platysmal bands tend to become more noticeable with age as skin loses collagen and elasticity and the underlying neck muscles become more visible. Weight loss can make them stand out even more by reducing the layer of fat that once helped camouflage them.
