As if lobster isn’t pricey enough prepare yourself to start surfing around to being open to other fish in the sea. According to recent menu prices something is making lobsters more valuable and it isn’t their reputation – due to frigid ocean temps lobster costs are surging sky high. To get technical for a minute – the average price of a pound of lobster at wholesale climbed to $7.90 this March which is 32% higher than the price as of March 2014.
On a lighter and brighter note leave it to one of our local hot spots MELI-MELO to put a clever spin on a lobster favorite – forget the lobster roll and try the shrimp roll! For half the fat and 1/3 the price why not give something new a whirl?! Love it!
Pictured is the the shrimp roll from Meli-Melo – house made, served on a brioche bun – includes shallots, scallions and fresh lime juice (mixed with parsley, cilantro and mayonnaise). Served with side mixed greens salad topped with dijon vinaigrette.
