Greenwich Girl is taking a road trip to Litchfield to experience a day in the life of the idyllic and quaint town. We’ve come up with places for experiencing the perfect Litchfield afternoon, filled with food, pampering, and some serious shopping. Follow our guide to A Day in Litchfield below!
The Spa at Litchfield: First up on our list is a spa treatment at The Spa at Litchfield. Here, you can treat yourself to a little R&R while nestled in the Litchfield Hills, enjoying anything from a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, or anything related to your hair and nails. Once you enter the peaceful spa, you will feel the relaxing vibe and the enchanting aroma. You can ever adventure into their line of holistic therapy treatments and consultations specialized in flower essence, energy, and intuitive emotional support. Next time you’re in Litchfield and feel like a quick retreat, be sure to make this your one stop shop.
West Street Grill: Next up – lunch, and we’ve widdled down our list to two of our favorite places. First is West Street Grill, which is focused on an eclectic array of modern American cuisine that is sure to tantalize the taste buds. If you stop here for lunch, you can start off with an appetizer of oysters, ahi tuna tartar, kale salad, chicken liver pate, or many more delicious and assorted bites. For entrées, you can choose from croque madame, fish & chips, rigatoni, Atlantic salmon burger, and lemon chicken salad, to name a few. The options are endless and provide a little bit of something for everyone, making this the perfect lunch spot for you alone or to please a crowd.
Litchfield Saltwater Grille: Our second option for lunch is Litchfield Saltwater Grille, where you can plunk down at the bar for happy hour or snack on some seafood as your mid day munch. Their menu is adorned with various items from under the sea, including starters like steamed mussels, fried calamari, oysters “saltafeller”, and Connecticut clam chowder, a mouth-watering raw bar, and a long list of entrées including salads, sandwiches, and dishes such as shrimp scampi pasta and baked cod. If you’re looking to embrace the salt air of New England on your visit to Litchfield, this restaurant is ideal.
Peaches ‘N Cream: To finish off your meal, you’re going to need a want to grab a quick sweet treat to hit the spot, and that’s what Peaches ‘N Cream is all about! Open all year round, Peaches ‘N Cream offers all of your favorite classic flavors such as chocolate chip, cookie dough, vanilla, strawberry, pistachio, and chocolate. But it doesn’t end there; they have a wide assortment of unique flavors, including amaretto almond, Bordeaux cherry, cappuccino, chocolate lace, ginger, Kahlua chip, mud pie, peanut butter cup, praline caramel, and many, many more. There are several seasonal options, as well, and they recently introduced their new flavor, White House, combining sweet cream with maraschino cherries, and there’s also sugar free and sorbet choices that will make this your must-have dessert destination whenever you’re “just passing through”.
Café 202: If you need your caffeine fix for your day-long journey throughout the town, let us introduce you to Café 202! This place is a full gourmet coffee house within the Housatonic Trading Company, serving everything from locally roasted coffee to espresso, tea, pastries, and treats – exactly what you need for your afternoon pick-me-up. A local favorite when it comes to coffee, this is the perfect place to put an exclamation on your Litchfield adventure, and you can even browse amongst the HTC for antiques, furniture, accessories, gifts, art, and more.
Serendipity: Speaking of browsing, our last and final stop in Litchfield is none other than a shopping expedition at Serendipity, where you can indulge in a little retail therapy and take home a souvenir, or ten. Serendipity is self-described as “a trendy boutique that offers handpicked apparel, one-of-a-kind accessories, refinished furniture, local art and home décor that will enhance your personal style”. And it’s true! This place is the perfect mix of modern and old-school and Shabby Chic and avant-garde.
