Wellness tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in travel and with very good reason. With travelers implementing whole foods, mindfulness activities and athletics into their daily lives, it’s no wonder they want their travel experience to include the same.
From the Four Seasons in Paris to the Mandarin Oriental in Vegas, “welltality” is on the rise and hotels are offering up some great options like cultural jogging tours, sleep programs and raw juice delivery. “Welltality” isn’t about deprivation or low-cal food, it is about revitalization, being present and enjoying your surroundings with healthy options. One of our favorite wellness experiences has been with Rosewood hotels. After a long day of travelling, we arrived at Little Dix Bay – an incredible resort in the British Virgin Islands with a view to die for and a relaxing vibe. The only problem was that coming off a crushing schedule, I found it impossible to relax. I tried a mai tai and a nap on the beach, but couldn’t turn my brain off and was feeling guilty leaving my emails unchecked. After a quick conversation with the concierge, I was thrilled to learn that Sense, the Rosewood spa, offered meditation sessions with fitness pro and wellness guru Austin Unterbrink. Unterbrink prepared a sixty-minute individual session aimed at present moment awareness and relaxation, which he led me through on the spa’s private beach. The session coupled with a quick trip to the gym gave me just what I needed to enjoy the resort and much needed break.
